Sedation Dentistry

Once you’ve experienced sedation dentistry, you’ll probably never be afraid to go to the dentist again. Sedation dentistry is an excellent option for patients who are fearful of dental procedures, have difficulty getting numb, or are simply uncomfortable with dental procedures. Contributing factors may include tooth sensitivity, bad gag reflex, unpleasant odors, scary noises and/or bad tastes associated with dental care.

Our goal is to have you sedated just enough to be unaware of the treatment. The process is safe and effective allowing Dr. Hixson to complete years of dental treatments in as little as one or two visits. A simple pill will be used to induce relaxation; no needles or tubes will be used. During the procedure, you will be in a deeply relaxed state. You will be unresponsive, but awaken refreshed, with little or no memory of what was accomplished, including sounds or smells. A member of our team will be with you and monitor your vital signs during the entire visit.

This procedure requires the patient to have a driver bring them to and from their appointment, as the medication involved makes you extremely drowsy. Plan on relaxing for up to five or six hours after taking the pill, and set up daily activities accordingly.

Our experienced team will take care of you every step of the way, with both your personal comfort and dental comfort in mind.
